Golf – a sport for the whole family
Golf is the perfect way to enjoy sport with the whole family. Whether you head out onto the course on your own, with friends or with your family – golf allows players of all ages and abilities to play together on the course. Each golfer’s official handicap makes this possible. With or without competition, in a tournament, during a popular informal round with friends, or simply for the flow and enjoyment of the game itself: every time, exactly as you wish and arrange it.
Golf – ideal for children
Children can be introduced to this sport at around the age of 5, provided they already have good muscle development and motor coordination. By this age, their attention span should be sufficient to enable them to grasp new concepts effectively. As the sport demands concentration, children naturally come to realise the important role their emotions play and how to manage them, and learn in a playful way the benefits of staying calm and focused.
Children not only enjoy learning best through play and fun, but also learn best in a group. These junior groups at Bad Windsheim Golf Club are supervised by experienced players or a golf instructor. Our club secretary will be happy to provide you with further details.
Golf – A source of good health
Sport and physical activity offer enormous benefits for people of all ages. Golf is a very comprehensive sport that engages many muscle groups. The legs, back, abdomen, shoulders and arms, for example, are all used during the swing. Furthermore, this sport promotes physical agility and breath control, and is excellent for developing or maintaining coordination, posture and balance.
However, the strategically and tactically demanding game of golf also requires a great deal of mental and logical focus, the repeated practice of which benefits people of all ages in their daily lives. Golf is certainly a mentally demanding sport, in which every game demonstrates how important it is to maintain calm and concentration for good golf. As a result, many golfers often notice little else but the game during a round, effectively switching off until the final green.
A popular golfing quote: “Golf isn’t a matter of life and death. It’s about more than that.”
Golf – surrounded by nature
Golf isn’t confined to small, fenced-off courses; instead, it takes you on a journey of usually more than six kilometres through the heart of the countryside, surrounded by all the wildlife of the region. In southern Germany, you’ll usually come across hares, deer, frogs, ducks, falcons and various birds, though rarer animals are also spotted here and there.
It’s up to you whether you want to be a ‘fair-weather golfer’ or face harsher weather with waterproof clothing and kit. In winter, we switch to so-called winter greens to protect the greens, and play continues. Only when the ground is frozen are the practice facilities and holes temporarily closed.
The truly brave ones manage to hit at least a few practice balls from the covered driving range bays, whatever the weather. – Your immune system will thank you for every bit of exercise you get outdoors.
